SATA-IO Plugfest #10

April 14 - 17, 2008

Embassy Suites Hotel Portland Airport - Portland, Oregon

Objective:

The objective of the SATA-IO Plugfest is to act as a catalyst to bring companies working on Serial ATA together in one place at one time in order to make it easy for them to quickly assess the health of their product through interoperability testing. As we deploy SATA products into the market, it is critical that we, as industry suppliers, work together to ensure proper operation and interoperability.

The SATA-IO Plugfest is open to all companies working on Serial ATA compatible products – including system and motherboard vendors, host bus adapter vendors, hard drive vendors, optical drive vendors (ATAPI), cable vendors, silicon vendors, storage enclosure vendors, OS vendors, BIOS vendors, test tool vendors, etc. It is not required that vendors be members of the SATA-IO, although a significant discount or complimentary registration is offered to members.

Focus areas for testing at SATA-IO Plugfest #10 include:

Most of the focus for this event will be around the preparation and verification of new Serial ATA features being productized over the next 12 months, including but not limited to: 3 Gb/s electrical and Phy parameter testing, ATAPI device functional testing, server and enclosure services, and mobile device interoperability.

Complimentary attendance is available for the first 20 Member test teams to register. Member teams registering after the first 20 teams will be assessed a $200 attendance fee.

Non SATA-IO members are also welcome to register for the plugfest. Non-member testing teams will be assessed a $1,000.00 per test team attendance fee.

Additional Forms

PF #10 Members Credit Card Authorization Form

PF #10 Non-Members Credit Card Authorization Form

Members:  SATA-IO Member companies who register to test a product/s at the workshop are referred to as SATA-IO Member Teams. Each Member Team vendor can bring as many of the same type of product that can fit into a block of one testing session (typically one hour). Registration for Member Teams is complementary for the first 20 member teams to register by March 3rd and includes registration for two supporting engineers. If you are not among the first 20 member teams to register by March 3rd you will be notified by SATA-IO Administration. Additional support engineers above two will incur a $100 fee per individual.

Non-Members: Companies that are not SATA-IO Members who register to test a product/s at the workshop are referred to as SATA-IO Non-Member Teams. Each Non-Member Team Vendor can bring as many of the same type of product that can fit into a block of one testing sessions (typically one hour). Registration for Non-Member Teams costs $1000.00 per product team requesting a block of one hour test sessions, and includes registration for three supporting engineers. Additional support engineers above three will incur a $100 fee per individual. Do note that if you are not a current member of the SATA-IO, we can easily sign you up prior to your registration.  If you have need for more than one test slot, it would be more cost effective to become a member of the SATA-IO.  Please contact administration for information on becoming a member!

General Testing Information: Each test session is one hour so it is recommended to bring only what can reasonably be tested during that time; test sessions can not be extended for any reason. If you have multiple types of products from your company to be tested and testing within a block of single hour timeslots is not feasible, you must register each type of product in a different test slot. Each Product Team must be led by one individual and that individual will be the person responsible for ensuring the products are registered and paid for.

Note: Stationary vendors are required to reserve a testing suite at the hotel for test schedule purposes. SATA-IO is not responsible for making reservations or paying for your testing suite. If you do not make a reservation for your testing suite before the March 31, 2008 cut off date you run the risk of not being able to test with other vendors.

Remember to pre-register EACH individual from your company to obtain a badge, to be confirmed for meals, and to obtain workshop materials. Attendees without a SATA-IO plugfest badge will not be allowed to attend the event.
